No Justice in Sydney .. FTOPS weeeeeeeee

I just got home from a long week in Sydney playing the ANZPT. The trip was a little bit of a poker fail as I had a few deep runs with no return.

Managed to fight my way thru day 1 with no major hands or spots and got to day 2 with 40k in chips... Was up and down for most of the day when finally just before the cash... My 14BB stack and QQ runs into AA... Not much I could really do... I’m never really folding that in that spot...

StarCity was really very average... I’m not going to tear strips off them, but won’t be rushing back there again...

FTOPS starts this week. Looking forward to some good MTT’s with some good structures...

ANZPT Sydney...WSOP around the corner

It’s been a quiet week or so for me since SCOOP finished. An incredibly draining series with little to no results... I’m not going to go thru some of the horrid beats that I took, because I refuse to be that bloke that goes on about the Pokerstars rig etc... But anyway... Terrible series that held so much promise and excitement...

Next week I fly up to Sydney for the ANZPT. I’m going up with a group of guys that I now travel with for poker events. We have an absolute blast, we’re all degen’ gamblers and love to mess around and take the piss out everything.
I am there to play poker, but will play a very light schedule and really use it as a time to have some fun and relax. Ill play the $550 6-max and the Main Event, depending on what’s going on ill also play the team’s event.
Two of the guys in the crew actually won the Teams event at ANZPT Adelaide, Definitely some added incentive of knocking them off there mantle.

It’s going to be an exciting few months ahead with lots of poker to be played. I’m going to try and relax as much as possible so I don’t burn out.
FTOPS and Melbourne champs are on during May and then in June ill be at the WSOP for 4-5 weeks. Ill talk more about my schedule and plans next week, but should be great... I love Vegas!…but hey. Who doesn’t?

Moving House and Minimal Justice in SCOOP so far!

I have not been around on the computer much in the last week and hence no new blog updates… This has been for a few reasons...

First I was moving house and all I can say is that it’s such a painful process. The Packing, The Cleaning, The Unpacking and more cleaning!
I’m very lucky that my girlfriend is a control freak and has to be in charge, so in this instance I was more than happy to sit back and let her take control and direct the people moving our stuff. I have learnt that you just don’t want to get in the way.
So the move is all done which then gets me to my second issue which has been my internet connection...
Do you think it could take any longer to get broadband connected? I have been told its going to be approx 3 weeks.. Like WTF?? !! Don’t they know that SCOOP is on? So to temporally fix this situation I went and bought a USB portable internet thing... Which in theory sounds great...? Use it just like your mobile... Get Broadband speeds blah blah... Well its works maybe 65% of the time, which is super awesome for MTT’s.
Not incredibly impressed as you can probably tell.

On to Poker... Been a fairly frustrating first week of SCOOP , was really looking forward to the 2x Chance turbo’s on Friday , The M-$162 was a disaster.. Could not really get a start and was out well before the break. The S-$16.50 was slightly better had a small cash and not a bad run.
Did have one beautiful bit of “Ship the Justice” I was in the BB with about 14BB and have AA. In front of me I have a guy open shove for 20BB and then the button shoves for 35BB. I’m like weeee snap... MP shows 66 and Button shows JJ.. Obviously on PokerStars you know you’re in trouble and sure enough 456 board... I just laugh and start my standard rant about how PokerStars is rigged, but the sure enough on the river in true PS magic... BOOOOMMM the Ace drops.. 45 BB + and ready to party, but it didn’t happen... Meh...

Had another deep run in the M- $320 NL 2 day event. Played really good poker for
7 hours and was approx 100 from the cash when I wake up with AK in MP with approx 14-15BB I open the pot up and get one caller behind me.
Flop was KJ4 so I’m certainly not unhappy and lead out and instantly get snap shoved all in... This guy had a tonne of chips... And I’m like... “Well its basically bubble play, he probably has a weak king so I like my spot”.. And I call... He rolls over QT. Sure enough Ace hits next card and I don’t hit my magic repeat on the river... To say the least I was guttered, but I like my spot and happy to have him drawing to 7 outs max.
Very Very frustrating first week of scoop!

Hopefully this week is full of deep runs and lots of Justice!!

Been an interesting week online… Had a terrible day playing the Sunday Majors..
I went 0/15 in events with some super horrid beats.. one of the typical hands was in the WSOP sat… about 20 from the packages.. I open with a 15 BB stack with 22 and get re-shoved. So I take a stand and he shows AA of course… Flop is 992 I’m like awesome.. Justice.. turn came K river came 9.. I was super filthy.. So yer very painful.

Been playing on Tony G poker a bit this week.. No success yet with the Jackpot SNG’s. but will be playing them again this week..

Did my first training video for http://www.INSANEPOKERCREW.com . Came out really well , very entertaining and certainly worth a watch.. The site is free to join and I recommend that you go and have a look.. Lots of great videos and rakeback info..

SCOOP starts in a few days and I really cant wait.. I have listed some events on http://www.chipmeup.com and eagerly wait for it to start.. Some of the early events really are not great time-wise for me.. Being in Australia, the early events are at approx 4 or 5am.. Way to early for a degen poker player…

I’m looking forward to the 2x chance Turbo events on Saturday Morning ( Aust time) . There is a $16.50 (S) $165 ( M ) $1525 ( H) I’m hoping to play all of them , but will see how my day plays out.. I am actually meant to be moving house that morning..
So by 8 am when the movers come I could be super deep and telling them to politely F*ck off and leave me alone.. I’m sure my Girlfriend will love this.. 

Jackpot SNG's , Twitter and the Mighty Tigers

I have been feeling rather sick and run down the last few days and have not really done much. Starting to feel better today and look forward to getting back to some poker and golf this week.

A few things I thought I’d cover quickly..

Twitter – I know this is the current craze and yes I have gone and created a twitter page.. But really come on.. Everyone pretty much uses Facebook and Status updates are the exact same thing.
Sure you can do it from your phone ( In the US only at this stage) but I really don’t think there is a need to track or describe every activity that you do.
I’m young and have grown up in the technology age.. But I think sometimes a little bit of privacy is a good thing.. Ill let you decide that.

Jackpot Sit n Go’s on Tony G Poker -- I’m going to give the jackpot sits a good crack this week.. For those that are not aware of them, If you win 6 in a row you can receive a jackpot of up to $100k or if you have 6 top 2 finishes there is also a jackpot for that also.
Ill be playing the $59 and $23.50 ones and see if I can make some magic.. I don’t believe that are particularly tough , but lets see in a week.

Richmond Tigers -- Tonight is the start of the 09 AFL season. My tigers are playing the Carlton Blues in one of the biggest round 1 matches in history. A lazy 90,000 + are expected to the game.
We have not won a premiership in at least 20 years and hopefully this is the year to turn it around. We have some good young kids and a superstar in Ben Cousins..

The Australian Government are donkeys - Joe Hachem DS Series - Chipmeup

Now for something that really alarmed me they other day.. And this mainly affects Australian residents. It is about a supposed list of websites that the Australian Govt is planning to block in May/June.. On this list this includes Online Poker/Gamming Sites.

This is an absolute outrage ! How is it that in a country like Australia we can have the decision on what information we view or use restricted or taken away from us..?

I’m left with a thought of a major dilemma.. What happens if one day I wake up and can not play Online Poker anymore ?
There would be thousands of Australians that overnight would have there source of income removed and funds locked away or seized.

Would I move to another country ?
Would I investigate having some kind of illegal internet connection ?

This is an issue that really concerns me and I will keep you updated with any news.

I’m incredibly tired at the moment from the Joe Hachem DS series that has been running for the last 2 weeks at Crown Casino. I have been at the casino pretty much everyday doing some very long session without much glory at all.
The series if you are not familiar with it is a series of relatively low buy-in events with deep stacks and lots of play.. Well most people saw thru this fairly quickly and realized that it was not so deep and not so much play.. To be honest the first few events were shocking.. Terrible players , 11 handed tables and silly blind level jumps all equaled a very frustrating first week.
The second week was not so bad had a deep run in the $340 2-day event.. Ended up basically bubbling which sucked. Cashed in the 6-max and had a 6th place finish in the Shorthand shoot out. No joy at all in the Main Event..

Big Congrats to Jono “xMONSTERxDONGx” and Steve Topaks who both took down a title each.

I Feel played some good poker for most of the 2 weeks.. Fatigue was definitely an issue towards the end and I’m certainly pleased to be having a break.

Hello and Welcome to my blog.. " Living the Dream"

Hey All

Some people have mentioned that I should start telling a few of the interesting stories that happen in my day to day life... Some may say i'm “Living the Dream”

Hopefully I don’t bore you too much, and if I do... well go click on someone else’s blog.

First a little bit about me... I’m 29 and from Melbourne Australia, been playing poker for about 4 years... Professionally for about 1.5 years...

Mainly play MTT, and some local cash games... but I’m a tornie player at heart and absolutely love the competitive side to it...

Had some nice success at the ’08 WSOP and final tabled the 2k NL event... Few good online results including a final table of the 1k FTOPS event earlier this year..

I’m someone that has done poker the complete opposite to the way you should.. I never started with a bankroll, never really read any books and certainly did not play at the limits I should have.. But saying all of this I have an amazing amount of passion and hunger for the game..
I devote a lot of time to working on my game now and not only play for a living, but play for enjoyment..

Thru out these blog entries I will run thru some of the ups and down in my poker career
And hope to share some pain and some laughs..
