Lots of very very big live games...
April 18, 2009I've been playing some big games in Bobby's room for about 40 of the last 60 hours. There have been amazing games there, but I just haven't landed traction yet and taken off. The past few days we've been playing 2k/4k Omaha High Low, Stud High, Stud 8 or better, 2-7 Triple Draw along with the normal 500/1k/(2k straddles) Pot-Limit Omaha and No Limit Hold Em rather than the 3k/6k we were playing last week.
One of the more recent days(I've lost track of exact days), I played a 17 hour session where I was stuck $300k, got even, lost $300k again during the session and ended up losing about $32k. I also won one of the largest pots I think I've ever won which was about $240k in a 3 way capped PLO pot and scooped after running it twice vs. a player who doesn't like to be named and Minh Ly:
Unnamed player straddled for $2k which increases the cap to $90k instead of $75k.I raised to $6k UTG with JT87 with spades, Minh Ly called in the BB, Unnamed player re-popped to $24k, I called, Minh called. Flop came J43 with two spades, Minh led for what he had playing on the table, Unnamed player capped it, and I called the cap. I hit a 7 the first time for two pair, and a spade the second time for a flush to scoop the $240k'er. I lost 3 bets extra in the last O8 hand to Chris Smith at about 11 a.m. due to poorish play after betting and calling a raise on the river on a paired board with the second nut flush and decided to quit.Yesterday I started playing 100/200 PLO and lost $50k in a matter of 30 minutes after doubling up 3 people, once when the guy was dead to runner runner flush, and the other two I was in 45% situations and lost both times, one of which we ran it twice, and I lost both of those. After that I played over John Juanda while he was at dinner and ended up getting a seat in the game at the same time playing the 2k/4k mix of the regular OSET-NL-PLO. I was losing just about the entire time and ended $260k loser for the session.
The last session I played last night we introduced 500/500 NL with a $1k ante that the BB posts, and 500/500 PLO, each with a $60k cap. This is much better than the 500/1k structure (500 ante from EVERYBODY in the NL) and the $75k cap that we had been playing prior as it allows for more "play" and less straight gambling.
Today, I've been taking it easy. I believe most of the players that play in the games I play are playing today, however I have different plans. I feel the need to relax for one day in preparation in playing Day 1B of the $25k WPT Championship tomorrow. My typical day of relaxation consists of playing $400/800 8 game mix and 100/200 PLO vs the same player heads up while 4 tabling somebody else HU at 25/50 PLO. Ended up losing about $50k today and after that I put in a very strenuous tricep and abdomen workout finished off with one of my favorite meals which is steak, carrots, corn for dinner made by my wife. I like to eat more red meat, carrots, and apples when I play more live poker because it increases your immune system's defenses...something I tend to need since I get sick fairly often when playing live. Everybody and anybody has been playing at the Bellagio lately in the big game and I hope I create some momentum soon and start winning. I plan on shooting some pool now and hopefully getting to bed within a few hours by MAYBE 2:30 a.m. so I won't be more than an hour late to the tournament tomorrow. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to write another blog over the past few days, but maybe if I make it deep in the tournament I might have some time. My dad is coming to Vegas the 23'rd I think for his birthday which is the 25'th. I'm either going to win the tournament on his birthday or we'll spend some time together, either way will work for me! LOL, Good night.

SCOOP Disappointment, Random Stuff, Slight Rant
April 13, 2009As everybody knows, the SCOOP just recently ended. The first five tournaments I decided to play, I held the chip lead at one point in time during the tournament. Those were the $10k HORSE (10'th place finish), $3k? NL, 20 something place finish after getting AA vs QQ allin pre the very first hand of day 2 and him binking a Q, Stud 8 which I ended up bubbling the final table for 9'th place, the 2-7 Triple Draw which I ended up getting 20 something place, and there was one more which I forgot. Very disappointing to say the least. I also had a big piece of somebody who made it to Day 2 of the $10k Main Event but he obviously didn't win. Anyways, I'm on my largest downswing ever, but that's also probably because I'm playing larger than ever as well...LOL GOOD TIME TO RUN BAD...sigh...I've played some more in bobby's room since the last blog...the games have been fairly good...seems like I just run pretty cold whenever I play huge...obviously I think I'm a good size favorite, but things haven't panned out so far. Anything can happen in 2k hands which is what i estimate I've played in the big game so far.
I moved into the new house if I didn't mention it in my last blog. I am thoroughly enjoying the pool table which is here...usually shooting multiple racks sporadically throughout the day. My dog is here too, so it's nice to play with her again. We actually went for a shortish walk today which was nice to get out of the house which I've only done one time since moving in the new place...obviously on the constant grind being the reason. I've also been able to start working out again since I'm situated now in a house. It's a pretty important part of my life to maintain healthy through eating healthy food and exercising very often which I'm usually pretty good about.
Anyways, I'm playing a few games right now online but I figured I'd write something up as an update. I'm hoping I can make a few wins sometime soon.

3k/6k OSET and 500/1k NL and PLO
April 03, 2009Over the past week I've been playing basically "the big game" in Bobby's Room at the Bellagio. Last night marked me fourth session there. I've had two winning sessions and two losing sessions thus far. There has been lots of interesting hands that have happened that maybe I'll write about in the future. We've been playing $3000/$6000 Omaha High Low, Stud High, Stud 8, 2-7 Triple Draw, 500/1k with a 500 ante for everybody No Limit Hold Em, and 500/1k (often 2k straddle) PLO. The lineup has included the players of Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, David Oppenheim, David Benyamine, Eli Elezra, Ted Forrest, Minh Ly, and another particular player who doesn't like his name mentioned. The action should continue for at least a little while during the WPT $25k Championship. Swinging $300k in a few hours is not uncommon in this game as it has already happened to me multiple times. I really like the mix of games and I am pretty comfortable with the lineup of players. I think I'll be having some solid results soon.
On another note, we finally found a house to rent till the end of the summer which we will be moving into tonight. I'm so thankful for that so my dog can fly out to us next week. We've also been in hotel rooms for months straight so Anita will finally be able to cook me some healthy home made food! I'll be trying to play the good SCOOPs and any of the 400/800 mixed game action going on PokerStars. I was able to have a quick session there this morning and lost about $25k. That's all I got for now but I should be playing in that game again tomorrow. I believe tonight we are taking a night off as we played late into this morning.
