A day to remember
Montag, Februar 09, 2009 21:44I woke up Sunday around noon, planning on calling a girl who I met the night before at a restaurant, she was my server. I gave Raquel a call and had her bring a friend so my friend Joe would not be the third wheel. We all got together around 1 and decided to head to the beach. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention- I was in Jaco Beach, Costa Rica.
The day was fun, drank a few beers, surfed, made chitchat as best we could (they spoke decent English) and had lunch afterward. The beaches were beautiful and so were the women, not much more I can ask for. We parted ways after lunch, planning on getting together for drinks during the evening. I returned home just as the Full Tilt 300 FTOPS was starting and decided meh, sure why not ill play a small schedule then head out at night.
The day got off to a slow start, I believe I played 10 tourneys in all and I was down to 3 of them around 9pm. I was happy either way, if I won I would receive money and if I lost we would get to hang out in Jaco. Jaco is a crazy town at night, there are a ton of bars and everyone is super laid back which I love. But there would be no night in Jaco, there would only be poker. The only problem is every other person is trying to sell coke or some sort of drugs, glad I never went down that road.
I was down to three tournaments like I said, the Mulligan, Horse, and the 100r turbo on Full Tilt. I had a stack in the Mulligan, but was pretty short in the rest. I then went on a rush. I managed to go from 1/14 to a 12th place finish in the 100r turbo, but its kind of a crapshoot anyways. In the horse I managed a 7th place finish, Chad brown “Pro” took most of my chips through his stellar play.
So I was down to the Mulligan, which I eventually took down for 61.6, it was a great feeling as this year in majors I’ve had 1/5 wins when I’ve been HU in the million, sec chance (2) ftp 750k, and 200r.
It is a great feeling to finish out a tourney with that many people and of course the moneys nice too. But the nicest part about that Sunday was that I was able to play overlooking and listening to the ocean. I was playing from my balcony and it was a super calm way to go about it. I was able to have fun at the beach, not worry about poker, and then come back and somehow pull off a win, it was just awesome.
That’s all for now, I’m about to start the FTOPS 1k and need to focus, hope you all enjoyed my blog- see you next time.
