Zes maanden: stage en poker
September 02, 2009De laatste 6 maanden ben ik bezig geweest met mijn studie. Ik volg een studie Bouwtechnische Bedrijfskunde in Amsterdam, waar ik ook woonachtig ben. Voor mijn studie moest ik een stage lopen van 100 dagen, voor een student is dat best pittig. Want studenten zijn gewend om weinig te werken en veel te zuipen. En ik ben geen uitzondering.
Omdat ik voor mijn stage ook veel achter de pc zat was dat natuurlijk een uitnodiging om regelmatig pokernews.nl forum te checken. Doordat ik zo veel achter het forum zat en zo veel werkte had ik een bepaalde drang (mindset) om als ik thuis was lekker wat multi table tournaments te spelen. Meestal pakte ik alleen wat tourneys die om 7 en 8 uur beginnen zodat als ik echt een diepe run zou maken ik de volgende dag nog gewoon kon werken.
In mei maak ik mijn eerste monstercash (in mijn ogen dan), ik word 2e in de Daily Eighty Grand wat goed is voor 11.500$. Door deze cash word ik alleen maar meer gemotieveerd om meer, hogere limieten en beter te spelen. In de periode daarna speel ik veel MTT's en haal een FT in de 109 Freezout op pokerstars, en een paar diepe runs (meer geen final tables) in andere tourney's.
In Juni kom ik weer diep in een groot toernooi. Ik word eerste in de 55 Freezeout van pokerstars waar ik 10.500$ voor krijg. Het einde van mijn stage periode zit er aan te komen en ik zit te denken wat ik met het geld zal doen. Ik wil in ieder geval een nieuwe computer kopen, ik wil graag naar vegas en ik wil wat geld sparen. Maar ik wil natuurlijk ook een roll houden om lekker door te spelen op pokerstars.
Ik cash bijna alles uit op ongeveer 1500$ na. Met die 1500$ is het doel om tickets te verzamelen voor de WCOOP en MTT's te spelen. Als ik begin speel ik niet goed en het loopt ook niet lekker, ik pak geen grote cashes en op een avond als ik thuis kom van een avondje stappen besluit ik nog maar wat te spelen. Ik ga met me stronken (stoned + dronken) kop aan de 400NL en 600NL zitten. Dit resulteerde in een korte sessie waarin ik ongeveer 1100$ verloor van mijn roll die daarna nog maar 200$ was. De dagen daarna voelde ik me zo stom dat ik niet heb gespeeld.
Ik had tijdens mijn stage al in mijn hoofd om wat meer live te spelen, zo had ik van mijn baas vrij gekregen om op een vrijdag het 330 Freezeout event van de North Sea Poker Classics te spelen en zaterdag de 220 Knock Out. Ik vloog er vrijdag al vrij snel uit maar zaterdag maakte ik een diepe run. Ik haalde de laatste twee tafels en zat met enkele PN-ers aan tafel. Ik was echter behoorlijk short aan het raken, en schuif me laatste chips er in met JQ off en krijg een call van AQ, geen hulp en ik mag als bubbleboy naar huis.
Deze ervaring heeft me hongerig gemaakt naar meer live spel en ik besluit in de laatste week van mijn stage dat ik het Main Event van de Summer classics wil en kan spelen. Ik koop een ticket en verkoop 50% via het forum omdat de buyin toch (veel) te hoog voor me is. Hiervoor is het duurste live toernooi wat ik heb gespeeld 330 euro en dat is dus wel een verschil. Toch heb ik erg veel zin in de Summerclassics en ik kijk er dan ook naar uit.
Achtentwintig augustus is het dan zo ver, ik rij naar Utrecht, en heb er zin in. Veel pokernews members en veel pro's, leuk veld dus om in mee te spelen. Als ik aan kom en het casino binnen loop zie ik meteen Marc Naalden voor me in de rij staan. Ik krijg meteen extra motivatie als er zo'n goeie speler, wat een voorbeeld voor mij is, naast me staat. Ik ben echter al laat en begeef me dus snel richting de pokerpit om aan tafel te gaan zitten.
Onderweg naar mijn tafel zie ik al enkele bekende gezichten. Ik zie een aantal regulars uit HC Amsterdam en wat mensen waarvan ik weet dat het pokernews members zijn. Mijn tafel is echter behoorijk rusig. Er zitten twee duitsers rechts van me, en links van me zijn twee stacks waar nog niemand zit.
Ik begin erg rustig en fold de eerste 3 orbits practisch alles. ik heb nog geen rare dingen aan tafel gezien, op een iemand na die ik al 1/3e stack heb weg zien bluffen tot aan de showdown. Ik richt me dus vooral op hem omdat ik het gevoel heb dat hij een slechte speler is. Voor de rest ben ik erg afgeleid. Ik let niet goed op wat er aan mij tafel gebeurd maar meer wat er om me heen gebeurd. Als ik
gedeeld krijg is mijn aandacht weer bij de tafel. Ik zit op de button. De meneer die ik hierboven beschrijf opent ~2.5x BB en ik reraise hem vanaf de button naar 7x BB. hij denkt even na en maakt de call. Flop komt 
hij checked en ik c-bet 2/3 pot, hij raiset me echter vrij snel en ik kan hier imo niet meer winnen en fold.Even later als ik wat suited connectors en pp's heb gelimpt en me stack is afgezakt naar ~8k krijg ik AT in late position. Voor me word geraiset en gecalled, ik call ook. de flop komt
iedereen voor me checked en ik bet 2/3e pot. de initial raiser fold en de caller raiset mijn bet. Ik denk even na wat hij hier zal spelen, ik zet zijn range op AQ en slechter azen of een PP/set. Ik besluit te callen en te kijken wat de turn brengt 
. Nu komt meneer uitbetten en ik zie niet hoe die 8 hem geholpen heeft, ik besluit weer te callen en de river komt 
. Weer bet meneer uit en ik geloof er gewoon geen moer van, ik call dus en hij showed [Qh,8h]. Ik muck en ik kan mezelf wel voor mijn kop slaan. Ik had hier de flop moeten folden of moeten 3betten. Maar ik speel de hand te passief wat me teveel chips kost.
Ondertussen zijn de lege plekken opgevuld, met onder andere Jorn Walthaus. Ik begin meteen tegen hem te praten over zijn prestatie in de SM en zijn challenge. In de tussentijd krijg ik een keer 22 waarmee ik een set flop en niet uitbetaald krijg, en AK waar ik pre flop wat mee kan oppakken. Me stack is ondertussen 6k als ik [Ks,Js] vind. Ik zit in vroege positie en besluit te limpen. Naast me zit een goede speler die naar mijn mening de spots goed weet te vinden. Hij raiset 4x BB en 1 iemand called. Ik call ook en de flop komt
. Ik bet ongeveer 3/4e pot en krijg een call van de goeie speler. ik zet hem hier al op een A maar ik vraag me af of hij een betere tweepaar heeft gemaakt of dat hij een wazige draw heeft. de turn is echter een A wat mijn hand compleet dood maakt. Ik ben ondertussen al een beetje gefrustreerd omdat het allemaal niet wil lukken en bet 2k in een 4k pot en hij denkt een paar seconden en zet mij all-in voor mijn laatste 3k chips. Ik weet dat ik hier achter sta en fold toch maar.
Ik heb nu nog precies 3k chips over waar we met 10k zijn begonnen, en de blinds zijn 40/80. Als dan de halve tafel limpt, en ik
vind besluit ik te schuiven. Helaas heeft de beste man die ik niet zo sterk vind spelen zn 
gelimpt en reshoved. Ik krijg geen hulp en vlieg er uit.
Als ik nu terug kijk op het toernooi heb ik gewoon heel slecht gespeeld. Ik was passief op de momenten dat ik aggresief moest spelen en andersom. Daar kwam bij dat ik gewoon niks hitte en toch wel afgeleid was door alles wat om me heen gebeurde. Niet te min was het een erg leuke en leerzame ervaring. Ik zal me voorlopig niet begeven in 1000€+ tourney's maar ik ga wel proberen meer live te spelen. Zo zal ik vaker te vinden zijn aan de 2/4 Limit tafels in HC Amsterdam en waar mogelijk ook de 50€ rebuy en 200€ Freezeout tourneys. Volgende grote MTT is Master Classics of Poker. Ik heb al een ticket voor de 550€ Freezeout en wil misschien nog een 330€ Freezout spelen.
De komende tijd zal ik minder online spelen, en zit er zelfs over te denken om misschien over te stappen naar cashgames. Eerst zal ik deze maand wat events spelen van de WCOOP, hopelijk gaat dat beter dan afgelope maand.

100nl + alcohol (mijn eerste blog)

Ik heb vanavond een pokertoernooi in mijn hometown-kroeg gehad, het verliep niet al te lekker en mijn chips gingen er in toen ik AQclubs kreeg, ik zat tegen AJspades en 88 aan en de 88 bleef staan. Helaas…
Eeenmaal thuis aangekomen besloot ik met een paar pils in me mik toch nog 100$ over te maken naar de meest corrupte site ooit, genaamd pokerstars. Over het algemeen verlies ik het meest aan donkeys die voor hun runner runner / gutshot mee gaan dus ik dacht, als ik lam ben kan ik dat ook. Het was push / fold. Normaal gesproken had ik hier gepushed maar omdat ik net een pot heb gewonnen en weet hoe rigged stars is, ga ik er van uit dat hij hier QQ/AK + speelt. Fold lijkt me correct ?! Na wat limpen folden en blinds oppakken heb ik 200$ en besluit ik 2 tafels te gaan spelen (ff peukpauze). En we gaan verder!:
