  • 2009 WSOP, Doyles Blog, and Greg Raymer on Fox Business News

    July 15, 2009

    Hey Guys,

I am just going to make this a quick blog as I am heading up to KY in a couple of minutes. The WSOP has been extremely exciting this year and could be one of the best ever. One question though, is Phil Ivey human? This guy is so fn good it’s a joke. It would be amazing to see him win the ME. If Phil doesn't win it I would like to see fellow UK Wildcat Billy Kopp win it. I read Doyle’s blog yesterday and the high stakes games are out of control.

    Doyle:
“The good news is that the cash games at the Bellagio are really, really good. In fact, I haven’t seen games like the ones going on for years. There are millions of dollars on the two tables in Bobby’s Room every night. The high action games have even moved out into the main poker rooms because there are so many of them. I saw two 4-8 thousand mixed games, a 3-6k mixed game, a 2-4 mixed and a 2-4k blind pot limit Omaha going at the same time. There are lots of Europeans playing with the local players and huge amounts of money are being won and lost. A French business man seems to be the big winner but it’s hard to be accurate on winners and losers. I know myself that I’m small winner but have played 3 pots with a million dollars in the middle. I won one, lost one, and split a huge pot with Patrik Antonius when we dealt the turn + river 4 times. I had a set against 2 pair bigger than my set and a flush draw. But the biggest disappointment was when Gus Hansen hit runner-runner with all the cash in on the flop. Oh well, the games are good and will be there for another week or so. If you like Chinese poker, the games have accelerated to 10K a point. That is the biggest Chinese games I’ve seen with half a million or more swings every night. I played a couple of time with not much of a result but I’ve played Chinese poker hundreds of hours, so I’m a very good player. The secret is how you play your bad hands; everyone plays the good hands properly.”

Here is a video of Greg Raymer on Fox Business News (was mid March, but I just saw today). You have to respect Raymer and appreciate everything he does for us. Have a good day!

  • Recap of Vegas and Obama Play ME?

    July 01, 2009

    Hey Guys,

Sorry for the delay in the blog. I have been in Vegas for the past 8 days and it has been very hectic and tiring. I don’t think many people will say this, but I am literally ready to leave Vegas. I can only tolerate Vegas for about a week max as this place drains me quickly. It feels like I haven’t slept at all since I have been here. I probably have averaged 5hrs max a night.

This years WSOP has been very interesting as there are several players who have won two bracelets; Brock Parker, Greg Mueller, and Jeff Lisandro(3 bracelets). Eric “Basebaldy” Baldwin almost won two, but got 3rd in one of the events. Brandon Cantu and Vitaly Lunkin had the same situation as Eric, but just missed. For those who have never been to the WSOP, it is definitely an experience you must go to once in your life. Right when you walk in the Rio all you hear is the sound of chips. You see all the poker companies having their own booths and media stages set up. Card Runners banners everywhere. You also see every big pro you can think of walking about two feet away from you down the hall. Most of the pros are extremely friendly and approachable. If you want to play one of the events very badly, the satellites are absolute gold for your dreams to come true. There is nothing easier than them, and the cash games are so soft it’s a joke. The night life is heaven on earth. I had a couple of good nights out with some of the players. The first night I was here I went out with Chris Klodnicki, Badgerpro, and Justin “WPThero” Rollo to club Pure. Klod decided to buy a booth for everyone on the roof next to the DJ since he got 3rd in the mixed event for $97K. By the time I got there he was blacked out so no prop bets occurred….thx Klod Smile. The next night Jonathan “xmonsterxdongx” Karamlikis called me up and told me to come out with him and the Aussies to the new night club XS at Wynn Encore. This has to be the sickest club in the world! Check out these pics http://www.clubzone.com/c/Las_Vegas/Nightclub/XS.h tml . There are like 40 booths right when you walk in, and a huge dance floor right in front of you. The best part is when you go outside and see about 100 booths(30 on roof and 70 on ground, just an estimate) and a pool in the middle of the outside. In the middle of the pool is an island with a bar, craps tables, and black jack tables. BTW Stewart Scott(2009 Aussie Millions Winner) is one of the coolest/nicest guys to hang out with. Him and the Dong showed me a great time! Two nights ago I went to the UB party with Matt Vengrin and Basebaldy at Studio54. It was decent, but I was too tired from the previous nights so I left early. Mr. Hellmuth was the center of attention as usual.

Today I went to the Liv Boeree and Melissa Castillo boxing match fight which was hosted by Poker Battle. Both girls put up a great fight, but Liv came out victorious in the end. She knows how to throw one helluva punch. I also set up an interview for Kirsty Brew a couple days ago with Taylor Caby, which went extremely well. It should be in the next AU mag so check it out. I had lunch and drinks with him after their interview, and that guy is one smart dude to say the least. It was interesting to pick his brain and learn the business side instead of just poker. He lives the dream, that’s for sure. I leave Vegas tomorrow night at 11pm…. I thought I booked it for 11am which sucks. Hopefully I can catch up on some Wimbledon as this is my favorite event of the year and I have missed all the matches. I think Federer will win it for sure, but never count out Nadal. Hope everything is going well with all of you and GL!

This guy bought president Obama a WSOP seat. What are the odds that Obama will show?
