New Bloggers/Interview, Round 2 with Biloxi, lotsss of Vids
9月 29, 2009Hey Guys,
I hope everyone is doing well! I am sorry for the delay in the blog as I have been busy with trying to come up with some new features for pnews that I think you guys would like. Hopefully they will go through soon. We have two new bloggers who have joined us this past month, Lex “RaSZi” Veldhuis http://my.pokernews.com/RaSZi/vegas-and-double-u-c oop.htm and Billy “patrolman35/durangodan35” Kopp http://my.pokernews.com/BillyKopp/unproductive-sun day.htm . This past week I sat down and interviewed Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin who had a very productive WCOOP and he also talks about why he left Full Tilt for Absolute Poker. Check it out: http://www.pokernews.com/online-poker/interviews/o nline-poker-spotlight-matt-plattsburgh-vengrin-609 5.htm
As for poker, these past months tourneys(wcoops) have raped me to say the least. I have decided no more tourneys and I will just keep playing PLO cash since I have been winning at it decently well. I have been using Card Players free pokertracker(at the top right of their page) since I don’t run poker tracker or holdem manager, but God you don’t realize how much you spend in tourneys daily or monthly, until you look at it. I saw Jon “PearlJammer” Turner saying on his twitter that he was spending 7.5k on one day then 7k the next day. http://www.pokernews.com/online-poker/twitter-poke r-pros/ Geezus that’s a lot! BTW I also went to Biloxi this past wknd and got rocked yet again. I said last time I lost about $1,800 in Casino games, but yet had brought my laptop and made $4,200 playing PLO while there. This time I lost $3,400 on casino games. It all started out with me and my 5 friends going over to The Hardrock Casino, and me ordering us 10 shots to get warmed up…..I know, smart play. I tell everyone were going to play Texas Holdem Bonus poker. If you don’t know much about it, it’s a very simple game to understand. First, you have to put your “ante” out there or your bet. There is also a bonus which you should always play for $5. Even if your cards are 7-2 you’re supposedly never supposed to fold in this game and always see a flop. You always have to bet “double” the amount of your ante to see the flop. The turn and river you can check, but it if you decide not to check the turn or river and bet it, the bet has to be the size of your ante. In conclusion after 3 days, I got rivered three times for about $2,800. You never get to see the dealers two cards until everything is dealt out. Blackjack also cost me a good $300 and same with 3 card poker. I did play one $40 tourney at the Hard Rock and made the final table, but JJ<KK first hand too. Overall, there were plenty of drinks and beautiful women at the Hard Rock so it ended up being ok for me. The US POKER Championships was also going on at the Beau Rivage while I was staying there. Chad Brown had a sick run. He won the PLO $535 rebuy and won the Main Event too. There were several big names there such as Vanessa Russo, Josh Arieh, Brian “Sn8wman” Hawkins, Ryan Welch, and Matt “mattg1983” Graham.
As for sports wise, my fantasy team is killing me and Tom Brady is not performing like he should
. At least the Falcons are 2-1 and looking good for the most part. I don’t know if you guys watched most of the US OPEN, but it was disappointing to see Federer lose to Del Potro. Del Potros forehand is a monster though, and he just outplayed him. At least a my buddy(John Isner) who I had played doubles in the earlier years beat Andy Roddick and my old college teammate(Jesse Witten) had a sick run. Here are some random videos and articles, but I think they are all a good share : ). I forgot to say, I saw Ferry Corsten in concert two weeks ago…simply amazing.
Have a good week and GL to you all!

WCOOP, Nice MTT Wins, Brett Favre, Tiger or Roger: Who is more dominant?
9月 01, 2009Hi Guys,
As you know the WCOOP starts in two days from now. Here is a complete list of the scheduled tournaments. http://www.wcoop.com/ GL to all of you who play!
This past week I chopped the 109 turbo on Tilt for $4,300 and got 2nd in the PLO $33 rebuy for $2k. Def a good week to say the least, but the stress is still there as I have been swinging $1-9K days in PLO at 5/10-10/20. I know I said I would drop down in the last blog because of the stress, but I am a degenerate
. I actually have been doing very well at 30/60 fixed limit, or basically making me break even from my PLO losses. As I was reading Brian Townsends blog yesterday, I def agree with him that fixed limit might be where most of the weaker players are. Most people seem to have a good understanding at NL and are decent for the most part. PLO is slowly becoming that way IMO.BTW, to all the die hard NFL fans, do you think Brett Favre came back because he was pissed at the Packers and wanted some revenge(obv Vikings are rival), or because he missed football in general? That was an article I read on ESPN the other day, I would have to say he wants to pwn the Packers for sure! It probably is a combination of both.
Tiger or Roger, who is more dominant? That is very tough to call, both are exceptional athletes. I am probably biased since I am a tennis player and have known and trained with some of the bigger pros on the APT tour my whole life. Roger is a lot younger and has won 15 majors compared to Tigers 14(i think its that). If you talk about the mental aspect of each game I would say they are both on the same level. There is the clutch or pressure situation that they both have to deal with at all times. Also being able to keep focused and not go on tilt. As for the physical aspect I give tennis the edge by far. Also Roger is always playing the top athletes in the world in every tournament as golf can have a much different field, and yes you can argue it a different way. As I said again I am biased, but both are superior athletes
. I def would love to get some peoples opinions! Also Jesse Witten, who was one of my teammates at Kentucky just beat the number 29 seed Igor Andreev in 3 sets. Congrats to him! http://www.usopen.org
Here is the Tiger/Roger video from ESPN:
