WSOP Cash Games
Friday, June 27, 2008 08:57The cash games at the WSOP are the “bomb!”, so that is what several players have told me. I went into the lions den yesterday to check out the action for myself. It was 2 p.m. and the tables were full, and so were the list’s to get on the table of your choice. Speaking of choices, there is EVERY game in poker offered in the live games this year. If the limits you are looking for are not being spread, put your name on the interest list and watch it grow. Typically, the early afternoon might not be the best time to get in a game. The cash games are down the list for dealers as they become available from the ongoing tournaments, so the wait can be up to 30 minutes or a little longer until dealers become available. I am told that the late night and early morning games however do not have this problem and turn out to be much better as far as action and dead money goes. The later you play the more profitable your bottom line becomes, so they tell me.
Yesterday I moved around the cash games observing as many games as possible and yes, even sitting down on a 2/5 NL game. For the most part, people were very friendly and eager to find out where everyone at their table was from. Poker players typically are very observant and have great memories. One player at my table recognized me but just could not quite place me, of course I could not confirm for him who I was. No doubt, he has seen me roving around the tournament tables reporting for PokerNews.com. A table that was obviously having way too much fun was attracting a standing crowd on the rail. I kept looking around to see what the excitement was about when suddenly a friend appeared who was sitting at the table in question. She was feeling a little tipsy and told me she wasn’t making much money but the guys on her table were worth the entertainment dollars and all the fun she was having on that table.
It appears players have different agendas when they sit down to a live game. Be sure to watch tables and choose wisely grasshopper. There is a wide variety of games and players to choose from, dead money, entertainment value players, students of the game, predators who are looking for the players who have deer eyes caught in the headlights, you will find it all in the WSOP cash games.

Fascinating! Would have loved to "try" playing live at WSOP but stayed in my niche with tournament play only....did ok at Binion's but if I had a do over I would get in there and mix it up!
