I had one week double or nothing sng-project @iPoker. First day was learning, then slow grinding up. I finished with 3% ROI, but my last 100 SNGs were closer to 15%. Simple rule is: play tight at first, then pick your spots to push. Seems that nowadays many people already understand a concept, usually there is only few total donks in the table. But still people make mistakes when they call pushes light (like any ace).

  • DONking

    六月 16, 2009

Tried to play some double ups (aka double or nothing) sng's on Titan Poker. They have a promotion for it. It didn't go well, after ~30 DONs I am down some 10 buy ins. At iPoker they are turbo, so variance is huge. Lost most in the bubble, usually to bad beat or lost a coin flip. Many times in those 10 man turbos average stack was 2500 in the bubble and blinds 500/1000 ... shovefest!

Maybe I should start to play badugi or something Smile

  • Suck out on rally

    六月 11, 2009

Unibet has "almost freeroll series" called Pokerirally. It is a weekly 1e+0,10€ tournament with two rebuys in the first hour. The winner of every week wins a trip to Neste Oil Rally in Jyväskylä, rally drive experience with Kristian Solhberg (who also plays in the tournament) plus a seat for live freeroll, where the winner wins a seat to Unibet London main event. Well, yesterday I started the second hour as a chip leader. After one rebuy I have had double up and then got like when my 88 vs 99 draw the flush on turn. After money bubble of 30 players I was still number #2 in the chip count.

Then everything failed in 3 hands:
400/800 level, EP raises to around 2300, MP big stack (second) cold calls, me in the later position ... I have aces and I raise to 13000 (I have around 23k chips). EP folds, cold caller pushes (he has something like 20k before the hand). He has TT and he flops a set. In the next hand I push J8o and double up. Then I get TT and push 4k, villain finds KK in his hand and I can't beat him .. out 28 of 30 ... By winning that AA hand I would have had something like 1/4 of all chips ... or at least almost twice as #2.

  • New grinder blog!

    六月 11, 2009

    Hi!

I am "TwistedKites" from Finland. This is my first English blog ever and wanted to start one - just for fun and then to write down about my life in poker.

I have played since December 2006. Mostly from micro to low limits. Sometimes I've been up, the most of time grinded in the zero level. As I am working full-time, I am playing more for to get better player, not necessary for money. Currently I am grinding at NL50 level full table holdem at TitanPoker and some tournaments here and there. In the beginning of the year I played more tournaments on PokerStars, but last months has been more on ring games. Of course I mostly play holdem, but I can play all mixed games variants - HORSE sngs are interesting! I have decided to play more MTTs again this summer. My Excel sheet since December 2008 shows only 94 MTTs - I have cashed in 28 of them, total winnings is 2751 dollars and ROI 221%.

    Yesterday's action:

Two day's ago at Stars I played for the first time interesting 22$ big ante MTT. In this MTT antes start from level one and they are bigger than normal. Well, actually people play it more or less like normal, but you get chipped out quicker when blinds and antes start to be higher. It also requires more action earlier than in the normal MTT. Two days ago I finished 11th of 189 players. Yesterday I was quickly out!

At Unibet there was a bounty tournament with brandnew braclet-winner Ville Wahlbeck. Unfortunately I didn't get to play in his table. Special bounty price was trip to Unibet London main event! This is a weekly tournament and winners of this tournament series get an entry to Unibet London. Structure in this MTT is quite a bingo after one hour and there is almost no post flop play after an hour. This is a rebuy-MTT. I made one rebuy after first hand: my JJ 3bet all in was called by two AKo:s who rivered an ace ... nice 4 outers. I finally was knocked out when my AK was busted by pre flop limper-caller's ATo. I finished #21 of 104. But I cashed also once yesterday (out of 4 MTTs): I was 11th in Full Tilts 5 dollar HOSE-tournay! Whopping 9.35 dollars ...

I am playing WSOP Megasat next Sunday. 200 WSOP packages in the price pool! I won this sat seat via Nordic WSOP sats. First I finished 2nd in daily 22 dollar sat and then finished in top20 in week final.

I set up also ChipMeUp account: http://chipmeup.pokernews.com/players/show/16925
I will play Sunday Warmup, where stakes are available *hint**hint* Smile
