THE ART OF WAR
December 16, 2008
"Warfare is the highest affair of state, the basis of life and death, the Tao to survival or extinction.” “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles”.
A poker genius or a poker monger? It is important to have a clear idea not only about one's own strengths but also that of the enemy at the poker table. The quality of decision is like the well-timed swoop of a falcon which enables it to strike and destroy its victims. Offering us a larger view, on the basis of which we can act effectively in the world.
We must deal with both strategic thought and philosophical ideas, which have since been widely applied in the arena of poker. Always remember to have fun, and apply the concept of three P, patience, persistence and practice.
We evaluate the most powerful and significant options and then grouped them by similarity. This develops into six principles that capture strategic philosophy. They are:
Win All Without Aggression: Achieving the Objective without Destroying It
Avoid Strength, Attack Weakness: Striking Where the Enemy Is Most Vulnerable
Deception and Foreknowledge: Winning the Information War
Speed and Preparation: Moving Swiftly to Overcome Resistance
Shaping the Opponent: Preparing the Battlefield
Leadership: Leading by Example
In summary, these ideas are timeless and apply to any strategic situation. Remember when you play you are at war – all those adversaries want your $$$$$.
Good Luck at the tables - Thanks

REAL DEAL
December 09, 2008
Maybe some of you that visit this website are not familiar with Native American
Indian Culture - We hope you'll read this article - Not only is it informative, but, inspiring, thanks. In centuries before any contact with the Europeans and Spanish, most Native American
Indians lived a peaceful existence. Archeologists and Ethnologists date back Indian
heritages beyond twelve thousand years. Most Native Indian aboriginal societies were structured to promote and enhance harmony
with values of respect and generosity, even though no written language was available. The
music, songs and dances created stories of life and have survived through the ages.History brought Native Indians in contact with other cultures and in turn manifested the
robbing of Indian lands and resources, for the good of progress. Our Ancestors paid the
greatest sacrifice in the protection of tribal sovereignty and self-governance.Eventually through Federal policies of tribal self-determination in the early 1970's and
following two decades later giving us tribal government gaming, enabling most Native
Nations to begin rebuilding our communities.US Supreme Court 1987 ruled Indian Tribes as sovereign governments that had the right to engage in gaming on tribal lands. Congress a year later enacted the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, which created legal framework under which gambling could be conducted on Indian Lands.
This development strengthened tribal nations and diversified tribal economics into hotels
and casino's. Now, "We have come full circle". We have created jobs, revenues, and emerged
from throes of poverty and despair to an economic leader in the eyes of other ethnic groups,at
the same time keeping our culture, traditions and tribal languages alive.Unfortunately, media news about our economics and social progress is focused on tribal
gambling. We are perceived not as culturally rich people indigenous to this nation, but,
as casino operators and purveyors of gambling. This article hopefully will help to inform people that American Indian Tribes are not
corporations and businesses, but, sovereign governments with the same goals and
aspirations of all Americans, for safe and clean communities where our families can
grow and practice out traditions and native way of life.Revitalization of our cultural ways our ancestors spoke of is the "True Story" of social and
economic progress in Native America, and we are working hard to instill in our younger
generations our heritage. This is where our Ancestors have lived for thousands of years. Together we can meet and
overcome our mutual challenges, together we can make a difference, together we can
make history."We evolved as a Society of Teachers, Healers, Scientists, Artists and Traders".
Spoken by the Honorable Bobby L Barrett - Chairman of the Viejas Band Of Kumeyaay Indians.Good Luck at the tables -- We hope you enjoyed this article.

FANTASY and FACT
December 03, 2008
The WSOP and WPT are the fantasy grounds for all us "want to bee’s". Like Disneyworld they can take you away from reality for a day and refresh your stagnant mind, uplifting your thoughts and spirits and when you’re done fantasizing - you'll dream you’re the guy or girl who won all that $$$$ and fame.
Fantasy that’s what it’s all about! We know the average guy or girl unless lucky, doesn't have
the money or sponsorship or time to participate in any of these super events. Why? There to
busy trying to make ends meet, the mortgage payment, gas prices, taxes, insurance and it goes
on and on. These are the real facts, so to him or her the WSOP and WPT is Fantasyland! That’s what both of these organizations want, why? Easy $$$$$$$, advertisers, sponsors, and the
hype from all those "want to bee’s" - make it a big business. We've read that these organizations
are losing viewers and readers, even some sponsors are drifting away, why? Somewhere they
lost the hype!I know My Cable Company doesn't give you GSN as part of the Basic programming, so you have
to subscribe to get other premium channels , hey, how much more can the average guy take
on before he goes broke? So now I don't see many televised poker games like WPT or the
program called High Stakes Poker that was originally viewed on local channel now its premium. So have they lost a lot of viewers, you bet they have! This year 2008 the WSOP is changing its
direction, as you noticed the events end in July 2008, but the Final Table will not be played until November 2008 ... If you read the posting of WSOP Commissioner, it’s got to deal with hype. Why? Come on $$$$$ - look what HBO and ShowTime do with their big events, months prior to
it happening, they create HYPE, this gets the viewers brainwashed to the events date, time, and the players in the event - great Marketing! This creation of interest - makes the hype of the event worthwhile for not only there organizations but for additional advertisers and sponsors, so now they have (four months) to get players, the public and all the fantasy into one Big Game! Will it work - time will only tell! We hope so - We don't want to see our great game of Poker go back to the old days, when it’s played only in the backroom and the only ones who know about it are the players.
We as players and all the great Railbirds out there, let’s keep the Hype going - maybe someday our game will be as big as Football, Baseball, or Soccer - At least that’s what the WSOP and WPT are trying for - Good Luck and remember dream the Fantasy!

GIRL POWER
December 01, 2008
I read an article by Julia King, where by groups of girl’s ages 11 to 20 wearing jeans and pigtails are attending Technology Goddess Camps. Week long summer programs for girl’s aimed at
keeping young girls interested in computing.Studies show that prior to the 5th grade boys and girls do have similar levels of interest, but
after this time, boys interests increases and girls begin to wander. So by having these Camps
and exposing girl’s to educated women professionals who have become famous in computer related
careers, anyone of these girl’s attending could spark enough interest that one day she may
become a CIO, because they're starting now. Most of the programs take place in a "girl friendly" learning environment. Girl’s learning
patterns are different, girl’s are much more social. They like working together in teams.
They’re also much more impressionable by role models. Remember, the Girl Scout Motto
"As you learn, teach someone else!"Wow! I guess the guys must have similar programs, or are we on our own? Look at all
the women poker players that have come out of the closet and beat the pants off all us
guys.See, once girls gain life skills and develop critical thinking patterns "Watch Out" they
educate themselves and other girl’s and it's hurrah at the poker tables for them.I think they created the phrase "Show me the Money"
Maybe the girl’s have a similar "Secret Poker Camp" for goddesses. The possibilities are endless.
Girl’s need to see and talk to other professional poker playing woman and view what a career in this field might hold. I spoke to a few young girl’s and they said " Who wants to be a geek and sit at a computer all day and be by yourself."That’s why professional woman poker players are committed to help girl’s appreciate the creative
and career possibilities in poker.Whew! The Secret Goddess Poker Camp, a place any guy would want to attend. "SILLY BOYS"
they'd whip you a new (asXXXXX) Oh! Well, who knows, maybe one day, one of these
goddesses will win the WSOP bracelet ... Good Luck, Ladies!Read more: Girl Power. Pigtails
