  • POKER IS FINE but - "TIME IS PRECIOUS”

    January 28, 2009

A worthwhile resource you can't buy! Or, make more of it.

I think you'd enjoy spending your days with winners than losers and focus on
thoughts that are flawless, but, I spend my time with losers who aren't satisfied
and the questions that trouble them.

I usually try and respond at the same time I'm asked, if it’s live, or within 24 hours
if I'm emailed with either an answer or a set of next steps. This is a better use of my
    time.

Every couple of weeks I create either an article on (http://my.pokernews.com/dzzz/blog/) or an audio broadcast on (http://www.pokerapronpodcast.com) enabling me to widely communicate thoughts and ideas of interest within the poker community. An exceptional demanding curriculum.

No one has all the answers, although some feel they do, and as need arises I search
all of the available technologies and user experiences to better answer questions.
The truth is you can't make more time, so once in awhile we turn off our cell phone
and just drive and talk about life, goals, the future and family.

I would be content never to receive any type of gift in life, but just the gift of "time"
the most valuable commodity, and if you think of this, I suspect your life would
change. So when asked a question - take the time to educate and collaborate.

The gift of yourself to others and the time to respond may change your life.

So he's the question! “What’s your next question?”

  • $10 FREE – ($2500 or Bust) /PART TWO

    January 21, 2009

Hopefully, you’ve read part one and have an idea as to what has occurred in our story. Let’s refresh your memory and go on. I received $10 FREE from an online casino site. I will not mention which one, but, I can tell you in one day I took $10 FREE and ran it up to a total of $5,000. This is true!

Yes, I spent $2500 of this money on family, yep I know hurry up, hey, I know your anxious, but remember what they say “Patience is a virtue” or is it? Anyway this story started about a week after I decided to play again, and see where my unbelievable adventure could take me. I logged on to the site and looked around for a table in the $1/2NL games, I found one sat down, but, got nowhere and was just winning back enough to stay even.

I then decided to leave that area and look around at a $5/10NL game, after about 5 minutes I did find a table and I sat down to play. I was into playing about 30 minutes and had accumulated about $500 in winnings, so now I’m at $3000, I sat around a little longer, getting again really nowhere, but still at $3000. Becoming bored I decided to get out for the day with the winnings of $500, as I was leaving, I felt an urge just to look at a higher limit say $25/50, for the heck of it, curiosity killed the cat.

I found a few tables at $25/50NL that had some action and I watched them for awhile, I noticed one was little loose and aggressive, money was just flying around the table, and the cards these people were playing didn’t seem to be what most players at this limit would really play! So, I thought, hey what the hell take a chance, maybe you’ll score, but be careful. So I went for it, me and my $3000.

I sat down, waited for the big blind to come around to me, so after the big and small blind, nothing, no hands at all, so here I am at $2925, here comes the next hand, I get JJ - the blinds, 2callers, me with JJ and other player – I’m deciding to raise, so I do to $300, figuring I can steal the pot, which now has $175 in it before my raise. The player to act after me, now waits, and the time clock they give you in order to make a decision starts, just before the end, he calls my raise of $300. The balance of the players in the hand fold, now comes the flop 942 rainbow –

I check, the other player checks, here comes turn 10 – so it looks now 9 4 2 10 - I think about what this guy may have and decide to bet out $1000 thinking it’s a large enough of a bet to get him to fold, again, this guy takes the time clock to think about the call, at the end, he raises me all-in. So here I’m faced with a major decision, what is this guy really doing. Now I’m under the time clock, he has no flush draw, possible river card draw to a straight, two pair, three of a kind, maybe QQ to AA and or slowing playing. What to do? Now the clock is running out of time and a decision is needed, I call the all-in bet as I really think this guy is bluffing. Well it’s all history a winner or a loser.

Yes, $2500 or bust – he had three fours – a pair of fours in the hole as the river card naturally didn’t help me. A $300 raise pre-flop by me – Would you have done the same? And called the pre-flop raise with only a pair of fours? Anyway, I can’t complain, I’m happy having this great adventure, and the loss, well you have to maintain a gamblers attitude and think of it as a “redistribution of funds.” How could you play this wonderful game without this kind of feeling, if you do and tilt, you’re not a true gambler are you?

Good Luck at the tables – Thanks

  • $10.00 FREE/ PART ONE

    January 13, 2009

Funny, how a dollar sign tweaks a part of our brain to new heights. Like breathing in fresh mountain air that spark of exhilaration drives us to want more! Well as players we are offered all kinds of FREE bonuses from online casinos and then some.

We’re human, are senses always want something for “nothing”, and we want to take all we can get. How would we ever have time in our lives for family, friends, and the world in general? Hey! Who cares we’re getting it FREE, right? So this is the mentality?

What a life! Sitting at our computers playing poker – you couldn’t ask for anything better! Me, my computer, multi tables, multi games, and my sore “butt” from sitting, a winner! Wow! Ah! What the heck, with all those FREE bonuses and winnings, I could hire a butt massage! “NOT”!

Real world – there is always some form of mathematical analysis on determining percentage of winning and losing players. Here’s a story! I get an email offer $10 FREE to play. So I took it, an adventure into the realm of online poker. My day off from work, nothing planned and the rest of the family, working or at school. So what the hell! No obligations, just register, download the site, log on, and play!

So, here I am, looking around for a table to play the great game of NL Texas Hold’em. Wait, found a table its only 25/50¢ NL with 9 players, small stakes, with my $10 FREE, and playing with people from all over the world. What more could you ask for?

Action – I watched the game until the big blind came around to me – here we go! The first 6 hands “nothing”! So were at $8.75 now. Back to me in the big blind! Cards dealt wow a Q2 unsuited (NICE) a little sarcasm, sorry! You have to have humor in this game. OK, the flop QQQ what happened, Oh! my goodness, I check, check, bet, everyone else called, the turn 7d, I check, check, bet, raise, call, everyone calls, the river 9c. The board is now (QQQ79) I check, 3 checks, bet, an all-in, and 2 all-in calls, fold, and me calling the all-in with what I have left from the $10 FREE.

Guess who won? Now my $10 FREE is in the thirties –WOW! They say luck plays a part or was it skill? Anyway, not to bore you, I played a total of six hours that day and in the end, we went from 25/50¢ to $1/2 to$5/10 to $25/50 NL games and won $5,000.

Yep - From $10 FREE to $5,000. Hey, was I playing my best game ever? Must have been! Did luck pay a part? Must have been! Was that email for $10 FREE faith? Must have been! Is all of this TRUE that I’m telling you? You can bet on it!

Oh! Yes I did take $2500 from that unbelievable day. How spent, college books for my kid, dinner and flowers for the wife with a little something extra, a new TV for the mother in law, a gift certificate at Children’s Palace for my granddaughter, small digital voice recorder for thoughts to save and write about for my readers.

So, what’s the ending – that will come in the next article - I call ($2500 balance or bust) watch for it – I can say, it was even more thrilling that what your reading now!

    Good Luck at the tables!

  • INDOLENT

    January 13, 2009

    Habitually lazy

While I was reading a booklet it mentioned you do somethings without any idea of what you should be trying, efforts are useless – indolent. The truth of Texas Hold’em.

When you play every other day, what says you'll get any better. You’ll progress, learning the basics, and then peak. Old timers play poker for years, and are still playing in low limits games. They never really understand the game. Don’t go to the poker table without some type of strategy, what goes on won’t make sense. Maybe you walk away winning and think you did good and losing days guessing why you’re unlucky, getting you nowhere.

What you need is to try and make sense at the most basic level. Hold’em poker? How to beat it? Why are hands good and others bad? How to find weakness in players? Can I use unfair means to one's own advantage to my benefit? Can I get the most out of my hands? What’s good strategy against varied opponents? Use the questions and answers in my game? Read all literature on the game, and make notes. I think also the best thing for my game has been David Pullaro articles.

My questions and answers helped formalize thoughts of the game and look more deeply into it. Try out skills in shorthanded games, full tables and heads up. Playing fair in these three areas, gives a better understanding of the game and what is needed to win. Playing three handed or heads up, allows you to view starting hands and their values differently. You see hand strength is dependence on another things as to how many people get dealt pre-flop, then you start changing to these varied situations..

Read – Study – Learn – Listen and Play will increase your game overall –
Good Luck at the tables ….. Please watch for my other articles Thanks
