Sniff out a Liar
May 14, 2009
Poker don’t you just love it, that’s why we all play the game, and a game it is all focused on taking your money any which way they can. Cheaters, scammer’s and hackler’s, and the one that usually takes it all, the Liar. A constant niche preying on your mind and causing you to make the wrong decisions.
When telling the truth, people often make hand gestures to the rhythm of their speech. Hands emphasize points or phrases--a natural and compelling technique when they actually believe the points they're making. The less certain will keep gesticulations in check.
Truthful people more likely to face there questioners head on. Liars, on the other hand, are "likely to lack frontal alignment and will often sit with both their arms and legs crossed as if frozen."To psychologically distance themselves from the lie, people often pepper their tales with second- and third-person pronouns like "you," "we," and "they." The goal of the process is to lead the liar down a path such that he or she eventually has no choice but to admit guilt.
Skilled liars don't break a sweat; the rest of us get a little fidgety. Four possible giveaways: shifty eyes, higher vocal pitch, perspiration and heavier breathing. Be careful, though: Not everyone who doesn't meet your gaze is a liar. "Certain behavioral traits like averting eye contact could be cultural and not indicative of a liar."
Liars are more likely to ask that questions be repeated and preface pronouncements with, "to tell you the truth," and "to be perfectly honest." Evasive answers to direct questions should raise your hackles, too. Liars--amateur ones, anyway--may not have thought through all the particulars of their stories. If you suspect you're being lied to, gently probe for details. (You don't want the person to know you're on to him.)
When a person is lying, the gaps between their words often increase. While honest folks have the truth locked and loaded, liars tend to take more time between points--no doubt searching for which approach will be the most convincing gently probe for details. A liar is often defensive, guarded and less cooperative.
When honest people tell stories they also may realize a previous statement wasn't quite right, and go back and explain further. Liars, on the other hand, "are worried that someone might catch them in a lie and are reluctant to admit to such ordinary imperfections.
Studies indicate that they would tell 75% of the lies again if given the opportunity. Chances are, they'd get away with it. Think you can sniff them out now?

NO MORE DEALERS
May 10, 2009
When I was first introduced to gaming it was “ball tag”. Being just a kid it was a game whereby you played with a small soft rubber ball with bumps on it. How the game goes is you throw the ball at someone until you hit them and then their “it”.
They pickup the ball chase you and the others in the game around and throw the ball to try and hit someone, then that person is “it”, and so on. Great sport super physical exercise and “live play” with friends or who ever wants to play.
So through the years most of your gaming experience probably was interaction “live”, then you learned “poker” with most of the guys you hung out with. In playing poker their was a specific dealer designated or at the end of each hand the deal itself was passed to the next person usually clockwise, this was again “live play”.
Now your adult, and “live action” at the poker room, interaction with other players and the “dealers”, great personal contact, “live and real”. Now all of a sudden that word we have all heard over and over again comes along, “Technology”.
Hey! I’m not putting Technology down, I just think it belongs in certain necessary fields that enhance people’s lives, like health, construction and whatever brings better results for the quality of life. Casino’s, yea it works their to better serve customers and the operational considerations for the establishment.
But, we’ve lost something. Real live dealer interaction. Think about this, all online poker is all electronic, a new level of game versatility with integrated software and hardware configurations – Technology – Bottom line.
This institutes an increase for the provider for more hands per hour, 24 hours a day 7 days per week to enhance profitability, and this is where the casinos are going.
Touch screen player stations embedded into the standard size poker tables with “animated dealers” automated with intelligent card reading and betting while reducing labor and operating costs.
Managing in an effective new way 24 hours a day, no need for live dealers, more hands per hour, no benefit packages for employees – good bye “live play” and “interactive communication with your dealer”. This leaves us with products for the casino that represent the new evolution of table games 24 hours a day 7 days a week, more and more dealers etc: replaced by technology – less and less jobs – hopefully taking these people and retraining them for other necessary positions.
More and more machines designed to increase efficiency, boast profits, rapid reporting and auditing, increase organization and error reduction. So, good bye poker, baccarat, blackjack and other table games that once required “real live people as dealers”.
Welcome to the more viable and professional table games that are taking us out of the “dark ages”. Thus welcome to the new age of table games “Technology”.
Oh! Well, at least I can tell my grand kids the fabulous stories and experiences of when I was a Professional Poker Dealer.
