QUESTIONS
September 04, 2009
Not surprisingly, the ability to listen, capabilities and limitations, and our
level of knowledge. The perfect player is someone that doesn't always
have all the answers. He'd prefer to say he hasn't a true answer, than to give
an inaccurate or incomplete one.A someone who understands the games peaks and valleys and has a feel
for the challenges. Someone with good communications, but not overkill.
A someone who has a handle on the technical side of things and is friendly
and honest and willing to listen. We'll list a few crazy archetypes –
Yes Man: when pressed to answer
your question, he solves the problem by saying Yes, it will do all of that
and more, he really doesn't know and is afraid to admit it.Armageddon: must do it this way or something bad will happen, he spreads
fear and doubt.Stalker: relentlessness is a big turn off and they'll say anything to get
what they want.Know-It-All: they have all the answers, and never at a loss for words, won't
admit they can't answer the question, so they respond like slippery politicians
and beat around the bushes.Clueless: knows nothing about the game and has clearly not done his
homework, fully unprepared.Entourage: he's the group and spokesman with the intention of answering
with the help of the combined group and adding a total non-value to the
requirements of the questions.Human nature is constant when dealing with these types, there's no substitute
for due diligence and experience. Know exactly what you need and want and
understand how answers you look for will interact with your existing playbook.Ultimately you'll find the satisfaction and solutions and know how.

Sniff out a Liar
May 14, 2009
Poker don’t you just love it, that’s why we all play the game, and a game it is all focused on taking your money any which way they can. Cheaters, scammer’s and hackler’s, and the one that usually takes it all, the Liar. A constant niche preying on your mind and causing you to make the wrong decisions.
When telling the truth, people often make hand gestures to the rhythm of their speech. Hands emphasize points or phrases--a natural and compelling technique when they actually believe the points they're making. The less certain will keep gesticulations in check.
Truthful people more likely to face there questioners head on. Liars, on the other hand, are "likely to lack frontal alignment and will often sit with both their arms and legs crossed as if frozen."To psychologically distance themselves from the lie, people often pepper their tales with second- and third-person pronouns like "you," "we," and "they." The goal of the process is to lead the liar down a path such that he or she eventually has no choice but to admit guilt.
Skilled liars don't break a sweat; the rest of us get a little fidgety. Four possible giveaways: shifty eyes, higher vocal pitch, perspiration and heavier breathing. Be careful, though: Not everyone who doesn't meet your gaze is a liar. "Certain behavioral traits like averting eye contact could be cultural and not indicative of a liar."
Liars are more likely to ask that questions be repeated and preface pronouncements with, "to tell you the truth," and "to be perfectly honest." Evasive answers to direct questions should raise your hackles, too. Liars--amateur ones, anyway--may not have thought through all the particulars of their stories. If you suspect you're being lied to, gently probe for details. (You don't want the person to know you're on to him.)
When a person is lying, the gaps between their words often increase. While honest folks have the truth locked and loaded, liars tend to take more time between points--no doubt searching for which approach will be the most convincing gently probe for details. A liar is often defensive, guarded and less cooperative.
When honest people tell stories they also may realize a previous statement wasn't quite right, and go back and explain further. Liars, on the other hand, "are worried that someone might catch them in a lie and are reluctant to admit to such ordinary imperfections.
Studies indicate that they would tell 75% of the lies again if given the opportunity. Chances are, they'd get away with it. Think you can sniff them out now?

NO MORE DEALERS
May 10, 2009
When I was first introduced to gaming it was “ball tag”. Being just a kid it was a game whereby you played with a small soft rubber ball with bumps on it. How the game goes is you throw the ball at someone until you hit them and then their “it”.
They pickup the ball chase you and the others in the game around and throw the ball to try and hit someone, then that person is “it”, and so on. Great sport super physical exercise and “live play” with friends or who ever wants to play.
So through the years most of your gaming experience probably was interaction “live”, then you learned “poker” with most of the guys you hung out with. In playing poker their was a specific dealer designated or at the end of each hand the deal itself was passed to the next person usually clockwise, this was again “live play”.
Now your adult, and “live action” at the poker room, interaction with other players and the “dealers”, great personal contact, “live and real”. Now all of a sudden that word we have all heard over and over again comes along, “Technology”.
Hey! I’m not putting Technology down, I just think it belongs in certain necessary fields that enhance people’s lives, like health, construction and whatever brings better results for the quality of life. Casino’s, yea it works their to better serve customers and the operational considerations for the establishment.
But, we’ve lost something. Real live dealer interaction. Think about this, all online poker is all electronic, a new level of game versatility with integrated software and hardware configurations – Technology – Bottom line.
This institutes an increase for the provider for more hands per hour, 24 hours a day 7 days per week to enhance profitability, and this is where the casinos are going.
Touch screen player stations embedded into the standard size poker tables with “animated dealers” automated with intelligent card reading and betting while reducing labor and operating costs.
Managing in an effective new way 24 hours a day, no need for live dealers, more hands per hour, no benefit packages for employees – good bye “live play” and “interactive communication with your dealer”. This leaves us with products for the casino that represent the new evolution of table games 24 hours a day 7 days a week, more and more dealers etc: replaced by technology – less and less jobs – hopefully taking these people and retraining them for other necessary positions.
More and more machines designed to increase efficiency, boast profits, rapid reporting and auditing, increase organization and error reduction. So, good bye poker, baccarat, blackjack and other table games that once required “real live people as dealers”.
Welcome to the more viable and professional table games that are taking us out of the “dark ages”. Thus welcome to the new age of table games “Technology”.
Oh! Well, at least I can tell my grand kids the fabulous stories and experiences of when I was a Professional Poker Dealer.

THOUSANDS
February 17, 2009
I was sitting on my favorite thinking spot this morning, you know it well, the color is
usually white and its shape is sometimes oval. Both the wife and kid were sleeping
and I had complete silence and peacefulness, just the echoing from my surroundings.
I sat and listened to all the natural sounds we never have time for anymore in our
hustle bustle lives. How incredible, we ignore the natural things around us within the look and sound of another
world, living, breathing, surviving around us, while we humans just go about our business.Wow! Out from a little crease near the baseboard came this bug onto the tile floor, completely unaware of me, just concerned about what his agenda maybe. I watched this little bug for
awhile, assuming he was scouting around for some type of tasty treats. That little bug didn't care about what I thought, what I do, and why! A crazy thought entered
my head - Oh! an opponent in my favorite game Texas Hold'em. C'mon bug shuffle up and deal.Well he must have heard me, as he turned, looked up and said "What have you learned?"
"As small as I am" he stated, "I have walked over Thousands of books and pages and articles
on your game, and they all have the same lettering, theories and good luck antidotes’.""While your reading this and thinking about it - Is there anything that hasn't been written and
talked about. I don't think so," said the bug. I must agree with this bug, I can't imagine anything that hasn't been written, posted, advertised, talked about on this game of Texas Hold’em.My own direction in writing articles toward references of this game, tips, strategy,
and whatever I find that may help you in your play, I hope is more than what’s in most of these
Thousands spoken about. I do believe and hope you also find my articles are tailored to
audiences with smooth, simple prose to educate, amaze and entertain the “average “ reader. If you consume this article, and feel as the bug does, please add a comment as to my writings.
I'm curious, hungry and thirst for your beliefs, comment, comment, and comment - Thanks.Oh! By the way, a Google search on poker books produced 11,400,000 and 562,000 books on Texas Holdem and 14,200,000 books on hold’em and 1,780,000 on holdem ebook.
I guess what that means is I won’t be writing until the year 4009 with all those books to read.
Anyway, Good Luck at the tables!

POKER IS FINE but - "TIME IS PRECIOUS”
January 28, 2009
A worthwhile resource you can't buy! Or, make more of it.
I think you'd enjoy spending your days with winners than losers and focus on
thoughts that are flawless, but, I spend my time with losers who aren't satisfied
and the questions that trouble them.I usually try and respond at the same time I'm asked, if it’s live, or within 24 hours
if I'm emailed with either an answer or a set of next steps. This is a better use of my
time.Every couple of weeks I create either an article on (http://my.pokernews.com/dzzz/blog/) or an audio broadcast on (http://www.pokerapronpodcast.com) enabling me to widely communicate thoughts and ideas of interest within the poker community. An exceptional demanding curriculum.
No one has all the answers, although some feel they do, and as need arises I search
all of the available technologies and user experiences to better answer questions.
The truth is you can't make more time, so once in awhile we turn off our cell phone
and just drive and talk about life, goals, the future and family.I would be content never to receive any type of gift in life, but just the gift of "time"
the most valuable commodity, and if you think of this, I suspect your life would
change. So when asked a question - take the time to educate and collaborate. The gift of yourself to others and the time to respond may change your life.
So he's the question! “What’s your next question?”

$10 FREE – ($2500 or Bust) /PART TWO
January 21, 2009
Hopefully, you’ve read part one and have an idea as to what has occurred in our story. Let’s refresh your memory and go on. I received $10 FREE from an online casino site. I will not mention which one, but, I can tell you in one day I took $10 FREE and ran it up to a total of $5,000. This is true!
Yes, I spent $2500 of this money on family, yep I know hurry up, hey, I know your anxious, but remember what they say “Patience is a virtue” or is it? Anyway this story started about a week after I decided to play again, and see where my unbelievable adventure could take me. I logged on to the site and looked around for a table in the $1/2NL games, I found one sat down, but, got nowhere and was just winning back enough to stay even.
I then decided to leave that area and look around at a $5/10NL game, after about 5 minutes I did find a table and I sat down to play. I was into playing about 30 minutes and had accumulated about $500 in winnings, so now I’m at $3000, I sat around a little longer, getting again really nowhere, but still at $3000. Becoming bored I decided to get out for the day with the winnings of $500, as I was leaving, I felt an urge just to look at a higher limit say $25/50, for the heck of it, curiosity killed the cat.
I found a few tables at $25/50NL that had some action and I watched them for awhile, I noticed one was little loose and aggressive, money was just flying around the table, and the cards these people were playing didn’t seem to be what most players at this limit would really play! So, I thought, hey what the hell take a chance, maybe you’ll score, but be careful. So I went for it, me and my $3000.
I sat down, waited for the big blind to come around to me, so after the big and small blind, nothing, no hands at all, so here I am at $2925, here comes the next hand, I get JJ - the blinds, 2callers, me with JJ and other player – I’m deciding to raise, so I do to $300, figuring I can steal the pot, which now has $175 in it before my raise. The player to act after me, now waits, and the time clock they give you in order to make a decision starts, just before the end, he calls my raise of $300. The balance of the players in the hand fold, now comes the flop 942 rainbow –
I check, the other player checks, here comes turn 10 – so it looks now 9 4 2 10 - I think about what this guy may have and decide to bet out $1000 thinking it’s a large enough of a bet to get him to fold, again, this guy takes the time clock to think about the call, at the end, he raises me all-in. So here I’m faced with a major decision, what is this guy really doing. Now I’m under the time clock, he has no flush draw, possible river card draw to a straight, two pair, three of a kind, maybe QQ to AA and or slowing playing. What to do? Now the clock is running out of time and a decision is needed, I call the all-in bet as I really think this guy is bluffing. Well it’s all history a winner or a loser.
Yes, $2500 or bust – he had three fours – a pair of fours in the hole as the river card naturally didn’t help me. A $300 raise pre-flop by me – Would you have done the same? And called the pre-flop raise with only a pair of fours? Anyway, I can’t complain, I’m happy having this great adventure, and the loss, well you have to maintain a gamblers attitude and think of it as a “redistribution of funds.” How could you play this wonderful game without this kind of feeling, if you do and tilt, you’re not a true gambler are you?
Good Luck at the tables – Thanks

$10.00 FREE/ PART ONE
January 13, 2009
Funny, how a dollar sign tweaks a part of our brain to new heights. Like breathing in fresh mountain air that spark of exhilaration drives us to want more! Well as players we are offered all kinds of FREE bonuses from online casinos and then some.
We’re human, are senses always want something for “nothing”, and we want to take all we can get. How would we ever have time in our lives for family, friends, and the world in general? Hey! Who cares we’re getting it FREE, right? So this is the mentality?
What a life! Sitting at our computers playing poker – you couldn’t ask for anything better! Me, my computer, multi tables, multi games, and my sore “butt” from sitting, a winner! Wow! Ah! What the heck, with all those FREE bonuses and winnings, I could hire a butt massage! “NOT”!
Real world – there is always some form of mathematical analysis on determining percentage of winning and losing players. Here’s a story! I get an email offer $10 FREE to play. So I took it, an adventure into the realm of online poker. My day off from work, nothing planned and the rest of the family, working or at school. So what the hell! No obligations, just register, download the site, log on, and play!
So, here I am, looking around for a table to play the great game of NL Texas Hold’em. Wait, found a table its only 25/50¢ NL with 9 players, small stakes, with my $10 FREE, and playing with people from all over the world. What more could you ask for?
Action – I watched the game until the big blind came around to me – here we go! The first 6 hands “nothing”! So were at $8.75 now. Back to me in the big blind! Cards dealt wow a Q2 unsuited (NICE) a little sarcasm, sorry! You have to have humor in this game. OK, the flop QQQ what happened, Oh! my goodness, I check, check, bet, everyone else called, the turn 7d, I check, check, bet, raise, call, everyone calls, the river 9c. The board is now (QQQ79) I check, 3 checks, bet, an all-in, and 2 all-in calls, fold, and me calling the all-in with what I have left from the $10 FREE.
Guess who won? Now my $10 FREE is in the thirties –WOW! They say luck plays a part or was it skill? Anyway, not to bore you, I played a total of six hours that day and in the end, we went from 25/50¢ to $1/2 to$5/10 to $25/50 NL games and won $5,000.
Yep - From $10 FREE to $5,000. Hey, was I playing my best game ever? Must have been! Did luck pay a part? Must have been! Was that email for $10 FREE faith? Must have been! Is all of this TRUE that I’m telling you? You can bet on it!
Oh! Yes I did take $2500 from that unbelievable day. How spent, college books for my kid, dinner and flowers for the wife with a little something extra, a new TV for the mother in law, a gift certificate at Children’s Palace for my granddaughter, small digital voice recorder for thoughts to save and write about for my readers.
So, what’s the ending – that will come in the next article - I call ($2500 balance or bust) watch for it – I can say, it was even more thrilling that what your reading now!
Good Luck at the tables!
