Team Member - Christophe Regnault

Christophe Regnault has been playing poker for the past five years. He started simply "for fun and money." Although he spends most of his time playing poker online, Christophe does enjoy the occassional home game with friends and has participated in one live major tournament. Christophe's weapon of choice is Texas Holdem and he can normally be found playing multi-table tournaments. Like many other online players, Christophe has enjoyed winning packages to live events and he most recently graced the felt at the 2008 Irish Open. The Frenchman is happy about winning this 2009 PokerNews Cup Alpine Package but has yet to celebrate. Perhaps he can come and celebrate with the rest of the Team here at the luxurious Alpine Palace Resort. Karl-Heinz Metz is a full time IT Specialist and part time poker player. His passion for poker has seen him travel the globe to play in some of the world's biggest poker events. Karl started playing poker three years ago. "I always played cards and one day my friend showed me how to play Texas Holdem," says Karl. "I found it to be an exciting game and started reading up on it and playing online." Karl is most comfortable when playing No Limit Texas Holdem and 7 Card Stud. The German's favourite poker player is Daniel Negreanu for two reasons: He is a very disciplined player and he seems to be an all round nice guy. Karl has won many packages to live events including the 2007 PokerNews Cup Australia, 2008 PokerNews Cup Austria, and most recently, the 2009 Aussie Millions. Gábor Szöllõsy has been playing poker for the last three years. The fascination with poker began when he found the game to be extremely entertaining. Now he mostly plays poker online spending the majority of his time honing his skils at No Limit Texas Holdem. Gábor admits to having a preference for multi-table tourneys and sit-n-gos. In his opinion, Phil Helmuth is one of the best players of all time simply because "he is quite a character." The family man has three beautiful children and admits that he once passed on a chance to compete in Miami and instead used the cash to take the family on a holiday to Spain. Achim Grimm was already planning to attend the 2009 PokerNews Cup Alpine with flights and accommodation booked on his own, so his recent freeroll win to this event was icing on the Alpine cake. Achim is no stranger to PokerNews having graced the felt at the 2007 PokerNews Cup Australia and the 2008 PokerNews Cup Austria. Achim considers poker to be a fascinating game and has loved it from his first pocket pair. No Limit Texas Holdem is his favourite variant of poker and he currently enjoys both tournaments and sit-n-gos. "Similar to my experience in 2007, there were a group of players from the German forum who also supported me during the recent freeroll and I'd like to send them a very special thank you," says Achim who currently works in the finance sector. Daniel Perfeito returns to make his second appearance on Team PokerNews. His journey with poker started two and a half years ago after picking up No Limit Texas Holdem from a friend. Now he plays both live and online with a preference for tournament style play. His favourite poker player of all time is Daniel Negreanu because of his great poker style and his ability to read his opponents. Daniel's biggest poker success was finishing in 21st place at the 2008 PokerNews Cup Australia in Melbourne. How did he feel about winning a five star trip to the Austrian Alps? "Very happy! Team PokerNews veteran Jeroen Marx has just confirmed his appearance at the 2009 PokerNews Cup Alpine. The Dutchman has made numerous appearances on Team PokerNews starting in 2007 when he graced the felt at the inaugural PokerNews Cup Australia. Since then, he has added an array of major tournament appearances to his belt - all this before his 20th birthday! The student starting playing poker a few years ago and currently enjoys No Limit Texas Holdem sit-n-goes and tourneys. It is professional player Steven Van Zadelhoff who Jeroen most looks up to because "he is a great player and is incredibly funny." Jeroen has enjoyed many poker successes both live and online including finishing sixth in the €330 event at the 2008 PokerNews Cup Austria. How did he feel about winning a PokerNews Cup Alpine Freeroll? "I was very excited... Whether I won or not, I was already planning to go to the event to play in some side-events and to have a holiday," explains Jeroen. Franciscus Dekkers - or Branco as he is known to his friends and family - has been playing poker for the past three and a half years. "I saw Rob Hollink win the 2005 EPT Monte Carlo on television and thought that this would be a fun and exiting game to play," explains Branco. Like most qualifiers, he spends most of his time playing online but does enjoy the occasional live game at home or at his local casino in Amsterdam. He is most in his element when playing No Limit Texas Holdem and Five Card Draw. Branco's favourite poker player is Scotty Nguyen. "I've played with him in Sydney and he is not only a great player with amazing reading skills, but he is also a friendly guy who can make people lose all their chips to him and yet they still walk away with a smile," says Branco. The Dutchman's biggest poker success includes coming 8th in a huge online tourney, as well as running deep in the 2007 Asia Pacific Poker Tour, Sydney. Team Blog - Helicopter/Shuttle bus transfers from airport to hotel

Hi guys,

Don't forget that part of your package means you will receive free airport helicopter transfers direct from Salzburg Airport to the Alpine Palace.

Due to safety reasons, the private helicopter service runs only between 06:00am - 17:00pm on March 21. Should you arrive after this time, you will need to take care of your own transport.

Shuttle buses can easily be booked and paid for online via this website - http://www.holiday-shuttle.at/english/index_e.htm - we highly recommend you book this early if your flight arrives outside the above mentioned times. Again, the shuttle bus will take you direct from the Salzburg Airport to the hotel and should take approximately 1 1/2 hours.
