Arthur Stevens’ poker journey began a year and a half ago. He admits he started off “mostly for fun” with live tournaments and home games. He then moved on to playing online and competing in some of the bigger live events. His weapons of choice are Limit and No Limit Texas Holdem, and Pot Limit Omaha. Winning a $5,000 PokerNews Cup Australia Freeroll is the Dutchman’s biggest poker success to date, but the humble player also considers “learning and improving my game everyday” as a huge personal success. This win was extra special to Arthur as he had bubbled in the previous freeroll. “This is a great feeling…I have never been to Australia so that’s pretty awesome as well, not to mention playing in a big live tournament.” Arthur has yet to fully celebrate his win. “It was late at night when I won and my girl was sleeping… I woke her up with my cheering and she got a little upset.” Given time to wake up, Arthur’s girlfriend was later happy to share his joy. He proceeded to have a beer before going to bed for a much needed rest. When not honing his skills at the felt, Arthur is also a student and a bartender who enjoys playing “PC games, watching football and all other types of sport.” How will Arthur fare at the 2008 PokerNews Cup Australia?
