Alexander Ratke joins our Team from Obertshausen in Germany. The freight company employee started playing poker almost four years ago. “I saw it on television and just wanted to try it,” explains Alexander. Although he enjoys playing poker live, he spends most of his time playing online. His weapon of choice is No Limit Texas Holdem with a preference for tournament style play. Alexander counts his biggest poker success as winning a ticket to the European Poker Tour (EPT) via a live local tourney. How did he feel about adding a $5,600 PokerNews Cup Australia Package win to his belt? “I could not really believe that I won… All the tension from the heads-up play just disappeared,” says Alexander. “I just felt very happy and now I look forward to visiting Australia.” Like most players, Alexander celebrated with an ice cold beer. Outside the poker circuit, the German also enjoys basketball and computers. This will be his first experience at a major poker tournament and his first visit Down Under.
