Erik Heinjärv
The story
If you don't risk anything, you risk even more...
“I started to play poker because I found it very interesting… Situations can change quickly in poker, making your heart rate go up or down so it's never boring to me,” explains Erik Heinjärv. That was two years ago. Although the full time student prefers to play poker live because of the overall atmosphere, he does still admit to playing a fair bit of poker online due to the speed factor. Erik enjoys all variations of poker but his favourite is No Limit Texas Holdem. Winning a $5,000 PokerNews Cup Australia Freeroll is Erik’s biggest poker success and he felt great. “I was on the lookout for this sort of package for many months… at times I would be very close to winning one, but would get unlucky in the end,” comments Erik. “When I finally won one, I was so happy and excited.” He proceeded to celebrate with his friends by opening bottles of rum and partying at a night club. The Estonian is an avid sports fan and can regularly be found playing basketball, volleyball, football and a variety of other sports. Most recently, Erik competed in the $3 Million Guaranteed World Poker Crown and came close to final tabling but was eliminated a few places before the bubble. This will be his first visit to Australia. “I always dreamed about going to Australia as it’s been one of my favourite countries to visit… I hope to enjoy this trip as much as I can!” he quips. We hope you do too, Erik.
