Discovering poker whilst watching the Late Night Poker show several years ago is how it all started for Dion Fotopoulos. “Some years later I discovered the ESPN World Series broadcasts and was hooked,” explains Dion. Three and a half years on, Dion mostly plays poker online spending the bulk of his time with Razz, Stud, Omaha and No Limit Texas Holdem. He admits to playing more ring games but switches to tournament style when he plays No Limit Texas Holdem. Winning a $12,500 Team PokerNews Freeroll made Dion feel “physically ill… like I was going to throw up,” jokes the Australian. In fact, this is Dion’s second appearance with Team PokerNews – the first being in 2007 where he also represented the team at the WSOP Main Event. Outside the poker scene, Dion is a huge Aussie Rules and soccer fan. “I’ve also hosted weekly Progressive Dance and Wrestling shows, as well as breakfast and drive programmes on Community Radio,” says Dion.
