I once again find myself in another airport waiting to board another plane....

Anyway, Paris has been absolutely wonderful and is definitely somewhere I'll come back to very soon.

I hope everyone has been safe and well.

    Peace, love & adventure,

  • I can't believe it's over...

After months of weighing over ideas, executing promotions and many long, hard days at work… the 2008 PokerNews Cup Austria came to an end last Sunday April 27. Looking out the window as I adjusted my seatbelt to prepare for landing at the Wolfgang Airport in Salzburg, I caught glimpses of the city’s famous Alpine backdrop – snow covered mountains sitting alongside lush green forests and grassland… I knew I was definitely in for an awesome experience.

The first few days in Salzburg were hectic with Andrew and I running around making sure everything was in order… all whilst trying to get over this crazy jetlag. Andrew, of course was doing fine as he had this theory about tricking your brain into thinking it was in the right time zone and comfortably slept through most nights.

As always, the highlight of my job and the area I’m most passionate about is getting to meet our PokerNews players who have come from all parts of the world to participate in our flagship events. My priority is making sure they feel taken care of and that they leave feeling satisfied knowing what PokerNews is, what we do and how much we value all our players. The first set of players trickled in on Tuesday April 22 and I had a wonderful time welcoming them and their guests.

Tuesday night saw our Welcome Party go off without a hitch – as players enjoyed a free flow of drinks, finger food and partied the night away with new-found friends. As the night wore on, the more quiet, reserved players started coming out of their shell (the consumption of alcohol obviously helped) and mingling with the rest. It is very rare that most players stay until the end as some always end up leaving early to go back to the casino to play some hands. I am proud to confirm that on this occasion only a handful left and most stayed on till the doors closed at midnight!

Another highlight of the event was getting to meet our fabulous PokerNews Team who flew in from various parts of the world. Filipe (Portugal), Jordy, Rik & Steven (The Netherlands), Manuela (Germany), Patrick & Andy (Slovenia), Rikard (Nordic sites), Martin & Stefan (Bulgaria), Jostein (Norway) plus the very talented Live Reporting Team – Heath, Kirsty & Logan. After exchanging a million emails it was so lovely to finally put a face to your names. I feel absolutely priviledged to be working with and alongside such a talented bunch. I look forward to catching up with most of you again.

To the others who couldn’t make it – we missed you! I hope to see you all at a future event.

I’m now in Germany – will post up photos from the event when I return to Australia.
    Peace, love & adventure…
    Trish

P.S. – I do have to pay a special mention to returning Team PokerNews players Jeroen Marx, Slawomir Wysmulski and Jussi Vuoristo. These guys also won packages to the very first PokerNews Cup in Melbourne, Australia in October 2007. Also, welcome back to Samuel Monigadon who originally won a Team PokerNews package to the 2007 World Series. It was great seeing you all again and thanks for your continued support of PokerNews.
